Rehab Results: a few recent
success stories.
The only thing they have in common is that, as a result of a comparatively
small outlay, the claimants have salvaged crucial aspects of their
previous lifestyles.

Claimant: Female. 56. Shop assistant. Husband shift worker.
Injuries include: haematoma, leading to left-sided weakness. Wrist,
ribs, leg and jaw fractured. Liver blood clot. A year elapsed before
Rehab Logic was called in.
Consequences include: Frozen shoulder. Ataxic movements, exacerbated
by fatigue. Short term memory problems.
Our recommendations:

Lessons:
- Case Management:
12 hours + 2 visits.
- Liaising with employer about a phased return to work
- Graded return to work.
Results: Despite the delay in instructing Rehab Logic, the claimant
is doing well.

Claimant: Male. 36. Banker, doing MA in religious studies. Has young
children.
Injuries include: Very severe head injuries.
Consequences include: Optic nerve damage. Slow speech. Ataxia.
Our recommendations:
- Our consultant provided an expert assessment
of the claimant’s
immediate needs
- She has given expert opinions as to what
can be done for him.
- She recommends intensive therapy in
a residential Head Injuries unit coupled with:
- The appointment
of a Case Manager.
Results: Although unlikely
to return to banking, the claimant will probably complete his
MA and return to the workforce
in another capacity. 
Claimant: Female. Special-Needs Teacher. Husband self-employed.
Injuries include: Multiple fractures of upper and lower limbs. Burnt
foot, with loss of two toes.
Consequences include: Pain. Impaired mobility. However, this person
is highly motivated.
Our recommendations:
- Lightweight wheelchair.
- Low cost equipment e.g.
raised toilet seat, which we have encouraged NHS to supply.
- Replace
bath with shower.
- Private surgery, if there is an NHS waiting
list.
- Negotiated phased return to work. She is naturally
concerned about boisterous pupils.
Results: Despite her injuries,
the claimant anticipates a return to ‘normal’ life. 
Claimant: Male. 42. Successful
Banker. Motorcycle accident.
Injuries include: Lost use of dominant arm. Pain. Clinical depression.
Consequences include: Loss of confidence. Incapable of resuming former
high-powered role.
Our recommendations:
Ergonomic workplace assessment.
Lessons in use of one-handed/voice-activated keyboard.
Cognitive behaviour therapy, linked with occupational guidance.
Physio + gym, walking, swimming etc., to increase stamina.
Results: Despite having suffered such a psychologically disabling
event, the claimant is now taking positive steps towards working
again.
